Kadesh A.M.E. Zion Church is a striking Gothic Revival church built in 1897 by Hannibal Badham Sr., a formerly enslaved carpenter whose remarkable craftsmanship produced one of the most architecturally significant churches in eastern North Carolina.
The church features original Tiffany stained glass windows and is currently undergoing a $2 million restoration to preserve this extraordinary piece of American history and African American heritage.
