The Edenton Bay waterfront offers peaceful walks, beautiful views, and a glimpse into the town's maritime heritage. The centerpiece is the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse — the last surviving screw-pile lighthouse in North Carolina, beautifully restored with spectacular views from the deck.

The waterfront also features Colonial Park, a key site in the Maritime Underground Railroad where African American watermen helped enslaved people escape to freedom. Revolutionary War cannons at the waterfront honor Joseph Hewes, Edenton's Declaration of Independence signer.

Take an electric boat cruise on the Liber-Tea for a unique perspective on the bay and historic district.

OUR INSIDER TIP

"Bring a camera for the lighthouse and bay views. Great spot for a morning coffee walk. The Liber-Tea boat tours are a wonderful way to see the town from the water."
